City vs. Island #2 The Quiet

So another main difference between the island and San Francisco Bay Area is the Quiet.
At the house in California the early morning is the most quiet but you can still hear the highway noise off in the distance. The population sound is always in the air. I mean to say that the sound of the "buzz" of life is in the background of everything.

On the island outside of town it is so quiet and still. At the house you can hear the occasional truck drive by on the main road but that is rare. The sound of nature is all you hear. In fact it is so quiet when the heater or the fridge motor kicks on you look around and ask yourself, "what is that sound?"

Apparently our neighbors sometimes have a frog issue. I know what you are thinking, a frog issue? Well, apparently some seasons in some years they have thousands of frogs on their property. She said it can get so loud it is like the Cicadas back east. That sounds cool for about 10 minutes and then I might hang myself. Thank goodness we don't have a frog issue.

The loudest thing you hear around our house is the GeoDog barking and the yard equipment running. That chipper is the loudest thing I have ever heard. (personal equipment wise)

OK, so man made items aside, I have never been surrounded by such a blanket of lovely quietness. It is so wonderful.
